All You Need To Know About CTET 2019

Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, conducts Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) as per the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, twice a year. CTET 2018 exam was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on 09 December 2018. CBSE has invited applications for CTET 2019 scheduled to be held on 7th July 2019.

CTET 2019 Eligibility:

CTET eligibility criteria depend on the class/standard for which aspirants are applying for.
Minimum CTET Qualifications for Primary Stage Teacher:
Candidates need to meet the below mentioned eligibility criteria for CTET exam if they want to become a teacher for Class I-V.
• Completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
• Completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 45% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
• Completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd).
OR
• Completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
• Graduated with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree.

Candidates who have acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person who is appointed as a teacher mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two year of such appointment as primary teacher.

 

Minimum CTET Qualifications for Elementary Stage Teacher:

Candidates need to meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria for CTET exam if they want to become a teacher for Class VI-VIII.

  • Completed Graduation and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
    OR
    • Completed Graduation with minimum 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd) programme.
    OR
    • Completed Graduation with minimum 45% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
    OR
    • Completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd).
    OR
    • Completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 4- year BA/BSc.Ed or BA.Ed/BSc.Ed.
    OR
    • Completed Graduation with minimum 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

 

Note:

• Candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled) will be given relaxation of up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for CTET eligibility.
• Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education: For the purpose of this Notification, a Diploma/Degree course in teacher education recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) will only be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and BED (Special Education), a course recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered.
• Training to be undergone: A person with DEd (Special Education) or qualification shall undergo, after appointment, an NCTE recognised 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education.
• The minimum CTET qualifications referred above apply to teachers of Languages, Mathematics, Social Studies/Social Science, Science etc. The minimum qualification norms for Physical Education teachers referred to in NCTE Regulation, dated November 3, 2001 (as amended from time to time) shall be applicable. For teachers of Art Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work Education, etc. the existing eligibility norms prescribed by the State Governments and other school managements shall be applicable till such time the NCTE lays down the minimum qualifications in respect of such teachers.

CTET 2019: Exam Pattern

  • At least two papers of CTET will be conducted and all the questions in CTET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four alternatives.
    • Each question will carry one mark and there will be no negative marking.
    • Paper 1 is for those who want to apply for the post of teacher for classes 1-5.
    • Paper 2 is for the candidates who intend to be a teacher for classes 6-8.
    • It must be noted that a candidate willing to sit for both the posts will have to take both Paper 1 and Paper 2.


CTET: Paper 1 And Paper 2 Topics:

  • Paper 1 will continue for a two-and-a-half-hour and will consist of subjects like – Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Compulsory), Language 2 (Compulsory), Mathematics and Environmental Studies.
    • Paper 2 will consist of Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 and Language 2 which will be compulsory.
    • Apart from that, Mathematics and Social Studies/Sciences paper will be taken by those who will have opted likewise.

CTET Admit Card:

The admit cards will be available to download 10-15 days before the date of CTET 2019 exam.

CTET Cut Off:

General: 90 marks out of 150

SC/ST/OBC: 82 marks out of 150

CTET Validity:

The scores of CTET are valid for seven years from the date of result declaration.
